2018 Carmenere

Oak Regime:  100% French Oak
Alcohol:  12.7%

"This vintage of Carmenere shows aromas indicative of the Okanagan wine region's potential for this varietal. Soft white pepper, fresh cherry, and red licorice notes are revealed when nosing the glass, followed by subtle hints of black tea. The palate reveals bright red fruits like raspberry, cherry, and cranberry with a delicate nuance of rose petal lingering throughout the finish. This medium-bodied wine has fine tannins and will develop great complexity over the next 5-10 years in the bottle. Cellar, or enjoy with dishes like rich, spicy paella."
Graham Pierce, Winemaker

A hot spring and warm and dry 2018 summer had the vineyards well advanced and in great condition leading in to the fall. Following this, a very cool August and Septem-ber slowed ripening to a crawl. Thankfully dry conditions and a lack of frost events allowed the grapes to achieve ripe and pure fruit flavours, while still retaining fresh acidity and great fruit aromas. White wine grapes were harvested slightly later than average but still achieved great flavour ripeness and balance.
