2019 Carmenere

Oak Regime:  100% French Oak
Alcohol:  13%

"Deeply coloured and intensely aromatic, the 2019 Carmenere shows ripe blackberry and cherry fruit the nose, along with bold black pepper and roasted red pepper aromas. Hints of star anise, black tea and red licorice bring additional layers to the wine. The palate is medium bodied with fresh acidity and soft tannins, and fresh berry fruits continue throughout its long finish. This wine will continue to develop complexity over the next 5-10 years, and it makes a great partner for a rich and spicy paella."
Ross Wise, Winemaker

The 2019 growing season started slowly due to cool weather in April and May, but a very warm June and July quickly made up for any lost growing time. After a warm and dry August, September brought cooler than average weather with intermittent rainfall, which slowed down the harvest for later ripening red grapes. Thankfully favorable weather returned shortly after, and the majority of Bordeaux varieties were harvested in the first two and a half weeks of October.
