2020 Alibi

Maturation: combination of neutral French oak puncheons and stainless steel
Alcohol: 13.5%

“After a one-year hiatus from this signature blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, we are thrilled to showcase our 2020 vintage of Alibi. This wine is comprised of 78% Sauvignon Blanc, fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks and neutral oak barrels, alongside 22% Semillon, fermented in neutral oak puncheons. This combi-nation of vessels brings a subtle spice and creaminess to the wine, complimenting the pronounced gooseberry, kiwi and citrus aromas. Tropical fruit, crisp apple and lemon juice burst on the palate with a long finish of lime and wet stone. This vintage makes for an ideal “cocktail” wine, while it also has the complexity and depth to pair well with a variety of canapes and light dishes.”

The 2020 growing season got off to a slow start with a cool and damp spring and flowering period. However, a dry and warm July, August and September allowed the vines to quickly able to make up for lost time. With smaller than average crop levels and perfect ripening conditions from September through to Thanksgiving, the fruit was able to achieve excellent flavour and phenolic ripeness, and was harvested with high levels of concentration and aromatic intensity. An outstanding vintage that has produced bold white wines that are full of character.
