Tasting Notes

Per Se shows the distinctive quality of Cabernet Franc from the Okanagan Valley, bolstered by 18 percent Merlot in the 2021 vintage. Reflecting the warmth of the growing season, this reveals a combination of macerated blackberry, dark plum, and black raspberry lifted by dried lilac and toasted star anise. The rich, opulent fruit is layered with savoury tobacco leaf and a gravelly minerality, with harmoniously integrated oak spice from an extended 18 months in French barriques. The palate shows exceptional density of fruit, with balancing acidity and polished, silky tannins that lead to a long, suave finish. Enjoy upon release or over the next 3+ years.

Vintage Notes

The 2021 growing season got off to a slow start with a cool and damp spring and flowering period. However, a dry and warm July, August and September allowed the vines to quickly be able to make up for lost time. With smaller than average crop levels and perfect ripening conditions from September through to Thanksgiving, the fruit was able to achieve excellent flavour and phenolic ripeness, and was harvested with high levels of concentration and aromatic intensity. An outstanding vintage that has produced bold red wines that are full of character.
