A Weekend Dedicated to Nota Bene

Last month, on the second weekend of June, we had the privilege of welcoming our Wine Club members and guests to Black Hills Estate Winery for a celebration of our flagship wine, Nota Bene.

Over three memorable events – the Nota Bene Cellar Dinner, the Nota Bene Soirée, and the Nota Bene Lunch, we gathered to share exceptional wines, remarkable food, and meaningful moments. More than a celebration of a wine, the weekend was a reflection of the people, passion, and place that have shaped Nota Bene into the iconic expression it is today.

For more than two decades, Nota Bene has been at the heart of Black Hills. It has helped define our winery, showcase the extraordinary potential of the Black Sage Bench, and create countless memories around tables shared with family and friends. This weekend was an opportunity to honour that legacy while creating new memories together.

An Intimate Evening in the Cellar

The weekend began with our Nota Bene Cellar Dinner, where guests gathered for an intimate evening among the barrels. The experience started with a rare behind-the-scenes look into our winemaking facility, offering guests the opportunity to learn more about the craftsmanship, care, and dedication that goes into every bottle we produce.

Chef Jeff of Miradoro Restaurant crafted an exceptional multi-course menu, thoughtfully paired with selections from our portfolio, including new releases and special library wines hand picked by our Winemaker, Ryan McKibbon. As each course was served and each bottle uncorked, guests were invited to explore the evolution and complexity of the Black Hills portfolio through the years. From cherished library vintages to current releases, every wine offered a glimpse into our journey of the vintages that have shaped our story.

The evening unfolded with lively conversation, shared laughter, and reflections on favourite vintages and moments elevated by Black Hills wine. It was a reminder that while great wine begins in the vineyard and cellar, its true purpose is bringing people together.

Raising a Glass at the Nota Bene Soirée

On the Saturday evening, members and guests gathered for the Nota Bene Soirée, an evening dedicated to celebrating community, connection, and the latest chapter in the Nota Bene story – Our Hiatus Collection.

Against the stunning backdrop of the Black Sage Bench, guests enjoyed exclusive wine tastings paired with curated food from Kin & Folk Restaurant, and music by DJ Chloe Morgan that carried through the warm summer evening among the vines.

There was a special energy in the air, one that comes from gathering with people who share a passion for our wines, the region, and the experiences that make the Okanagan so special. Watching glasses raised in celebration as the sun set over the vineyards was a moment we won’t soon forget.

A Relaxed Sunday Lunch

The weekend concluded with our Nota Bene Lunch, offering a slower pace and a chance to savour one final gathering together.

Set against the vineyard backdrop, guests enjoyed thoughtfully prepared dishes by the Black Hills Vineyard Kitchen, paired with current and library vintages of Nota Bene. Conversations lingered a little longer, glasses were filled, and there was a sense of gratitude shared among those gathered around the table.

It was the perfect ending to a weekend that celebrated not only the Nota Bene and Black Hills, but the relationships and traditions that have grown alongside it.

Thank You for Celebrating With Us

Weekends like this remind us that Nota Bene is about so much more than what is in the bottle. It is about the community that has supported Black Hills over the years, the friendships formed through a shared love of wine, and the stories that continue to unfold with every vintage.

To everyone who joined us, thank you for making the weekend so special. Whether you travelled from near or far, shared a favourite vintage, or simply raised a glass alongside us, your presence helped make this celebration truly memorable.

We are honoured to share these experiences with you and grateful to have such an incredible community as part of the Black Hills family.

Until next year, cheers to another unforgettable Nota Bene Weekend.
