I wanted to add a tasting note after my first bottle, but I wanted to sit on it to think it over, even though I was impressed with it that I went through the trouble of pairing it with all sort of cookies, from walnut, peanut butter, ginger, all the way to short bread cookies as there were plenty of these home made cookies in this festival season. Then I opened the second bottle, I was too busy drinking to write a tasting note. Another bottle opened itself, paired with some old aged cheese, the bottle some how just gets better. Tonight, I decided to BBQ some nice strip loins from Costco, and I couldn't resisted but to open another bottle of this Punch Down, even though I have well over a hundred bottles to choose from. So here I am, trying to write a tasting note.

It is deep purple and rich in color, with deep, ripe, dark red fruits flavours and hints of smoky notes. On the palate are cherry, strawberry, and chai spice with hints of smoky cedar. The finish is velvety with great length with acidity poking through with a somewhat sharp after taste.

It goes well with every thing, or on its own. I have now bought three cases, and may buy more.

This is a very good everyday wine.
